Alex Acuna

Alex was born on December 12, 1944 in the city Pativilca, Lima, which is located in Peru. At the age of five he began playing drums and percussion. Alex's father a music professor at the University of Lima had taught his brothers music and not him too much since his mother didn't want him to become a musician. He was basically self taught until much later.

When Alex turned 18 years of age he moved to America to play in a band with Prez Prado. Mr. Prado offered Alex a chance to tour S. America and the U.S. Alex decided to settle for a while in Puerto Rico where he began studying percussion at the conservatory. During this time whitch was about 1964, Alex played with numerous Latin groups not to mention the Big bands.
